Important notice: Driver Update Toshiba RAID (Redundant Array of Indenpendent Disks)

Toshiba notebook models:

  • Qosmio G20
  • Qosmio G30
  • Portégé S100
  • Tecra S3
  • Portégé M400

TOSHIBA highly recommends users of the models Qosmio G20, Qosmio G30 , Portégé S100, Tecra S3 or Portégé M 400 to update the following driver for Toshiba RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) to eliminate the possibility of data loss that users may very rarely experience.

Such possibility exists if any of the following two cases occurs:

1st case:
For Toshiba computers that support RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) there is a possibility of data loss or data corruption under the following rare set of conditions:
1. The computer is supporting two internal hard disk drives. (External drives on USB, Firewire or other interfaces are not subject to this issue.)
2. The hard disk drives are NOT configured as a RAID.
3. An early version of the TOSHIBA RAID driver is installed.
4. A severe error condition occurs, resulting in a Windows “Blue Screen” error.

Under the above mentioned conditions, the contents of memory may be written to the second hard disk drive. There is some possibility that the data from the resulting “memory dump” will overwrite (replace) some document files or other data files on the second hard disk drive.

2nd case:
When the QosmioPlayer File Copy Utility is used to move a media file created by the QosmioPlayer into the Windows file system area, there is a possibility of data loss or data corruption on the internal hard disk drives under the following rare set of conditions:
1. The computer is supporting two internal hard disk drives, which is preconfigured to support RAID.
2. An early version of the Toshiba RAID driver is installed.
3. A severe error condition occurs, resulting in a Windows “Blue Screen” error.

If these conditions coincide, the memory may be written to the first and possibly also to the second hard disk drive. There is slight possibility that the data from the resulting “memory dump” will overwrite (replace) the document files and other data files on either or both hard disk drives, or that the Windows file system on either drive could become unreadable, which could make documents and data files on that drive inaccessible.
External drives on USB, Firewire, and other interfaces are not affected by this issue.
